Our work includes devising participatory workshops that allow communities to explore different aspects of the world they live in, including heritage, environment, arts and crafts.
We believe that everyone is capable of creative expression; that artists can work with a broad spectrum of individuals without compromising artistically or aesthetically; that contemporary artforms can be stimulating, challenging and engaging for all. We want theatre to be at the cultural heart of our community and as a result of a grant from BBC Children in Need and LankellyChase we have extended our creative process to embrace:
- Artists from other art-forms, especially textile artists and video artists
- Disadvantaged young people, supported by Five Valley Foyer, who are part of our production team, dissolving the boundary between our participative work and professional practice
- Researching, designing and producing cloth and costumes through textile workshops
- Creating, mixing and recording the ‘music score’ or ‘soundscape’ through music technology
- Taking on front of house roles during performances
- Planning and managing a public exhibition of their work at the end of each project.
